Letter from the CEO
I have managed through several economic downturns but this situation is different. The underlying economy is far stronger than it was during our last recession in 2008. But the personal toll and anxiety far exceeds any prior recessions. What is imperative — especially for small and mid-sized businesses like ours, and our customers’ —is to be decisive and move quickly in response to this situation. Time is not your friend.
At Zenefits, our first priority has been to ensure our teams are healthy, safe and equipped to effectively work from home to support our customers. We have built new HR software tools, advisory services and information to help our customers cut through the complexity and manage the change and challenges required just to stay open.
Further, we are providing free access to our Payroll and Employee Wellbeing products for new and existing customers and we’re actively updating the features in our PTO, payroll and reporting to keep in step with emerging relief packages. For example, we’ve made it simpler to track, pay and receive tax credits for COVID-19 related sick/leave time off (HR 6201); as well as to collect and report data required to apply for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. And we’ve opened up emergency healthcare insurance enrollment periods in coordination with several of the major insurance carriers, and are escalating COVID-19 related cases. More is in the works.
The workplace and the workforce will be forever changed post-pandemic. We are dedicated to helping our customers build resiliency and adjust to what the “new normal” will be.
