While everyone practices social distancing, one food blogger ensures distance doesn’t mean disconnect as she unites her community in support of local makers and bakers.
In a city where there’s always something new to taste, food blogger Jane Ko shares endless inspiration on her blog A Taste of KoKo. After nearly a decade of hunting down Austin’s best bites, Jane’s now supplying her city with something else entirely — unwavering support.
As businesses close and events are canceled, Jane’s been working tirelessly to launch not one, but two initiatives to prop up her community. She started Hundred for Hospitality, which supplies 100 meals a day to laid-off restaurant workers and helps eateries stay open with donations for employee and food expenses. And, as many gigs fall through in the wake of SXSW’s cancellation, Jane founded Hire a Creative — a community helping makers find work — which has already garnered hundreds of members.
